Ft Yargo

I rode Ft Yargo Sunday with a friend of mine from work. It had been a long time since I rode my bike on a trail so it was nice to get out.

My friend has really improved since the first time we rode together. He has been working super hard riding his spin bike. Every time I looked over my shoulder he was right there on my wheel. He is even keeping up with me on the downhills now. I was super impressed.

I felt pretty good considering I haven't ridden much lately. I totally psyched myself out on the horseshoe drop section though. I started thinking about it half way through the ride. I was trying to come up with some excuse about why I shouldn't ride it. When I got there I looked down into the hole of death and noticed a big wheel sucking mud puddle. That was all the excuse I needed to bail.

I walked over to the other side of the drop though and unfortunately it was clear of mud. I stood there for a long time and talked to my friend about why it was stupid to ride that thing. I couldn't leave without trying though so I rode it anyway. It wasn't really that bad. I think the side I rode was much easier than the side I skipped though. Maybe if I ride the easy side enough times I will feel more comfortable riding the hard side.

I also went to super bowl party that night and got to see my friend who took me on first mountain bike ride. He is a really nice guy, and I enjoyed hanging out with him and his family and friends. Thanks to Amy for making the cornbread!

I wish I could have ridden with you at Yargo--I definitely wouldn't have attempted the horseshoe drop though! :)

I'm a new reader to your blog, but have loved the few articles that I've read here today. Good stuff!
